PDRC organized a scholarship distribution ceremony for the academic year 2018-19 on Sunday 15th April 2018. PDRC president Kamala Hemchuri presided over the event, board members and the guardians/parents of the students were also present.
Scholarships were distributed to over 21 students of different levels from 10+2 up to undergraduate courses which include General Science, Medicine, Engineering, Law, Agriculture, etc. The scholarship recipients were selected through a rigorous process which includes written exams and interviews. Caste and gender inclusion, geographical proximity, economic status, academic standing, and other several measures were also taken into account.
The program kicked off with the welcome remarks from program manager Rup Sunar. PDRC executive director Birendra Biswakarma highlighted the background of the scholarship and its importance for Dalit and other disadvantaged students. Likewise, Human Resource Development Officer Riban Mangrati explained the technicalities of the selection process and Sunita Ghimire briefly discussed how scholarships are transferred to student’s respective accounts.
President Hemchuri congratulated students for being awarded by the scholarship and urged them to give back to society in the future.
PDRC board member Pompa Sunar extended a vote of thanks to all those contributed to making the scholarship distribution program successful. The program was convened by Research and Advocacy Officer D B Bishwakarma.
