Ten Years Still and Going

17 Jul 2015

PDRC was established on July 17th, 2005 and is excited to be commemorating its 10th anniversary today. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the students (both old and new), sponsors, advisers, guardians, colleges/universities, well wishers, stakeholders, board members and partners. We could never have reached this milestone without your care, support and love.

Since its inception, PDRC has consistently engaged in informing, empowering and engaging marginalized youths in Nepal. We believe that our 10th anniversary offers us an opportunity to make a dedicated push to expand our outreach and services beyond Kathmandu in the coming days.

During this decade long journey, the growth of the organization continues to influence the careers of thousands of students profoundly. We feel proud of the fact that there are a numbers of doctors, engineers, lawyers, nurses and development professionals from the Dalit community by our direct and indirect support. In addition, a growing number of our students have started getting scholarships for higher education abroad.

Currently, PDRC has a goal to transform the education system of selected schools by adopting technology and innovative teaching methodologies. In addition, we are planning to help our young people succeed in school, work and life through the mentorship program. We believe that this will give our youth a confidence, resources and the support they need to achieve their goals.

For your information, we had planned to make a grand celebration for our 10th anniversary. Unfortunately, the impact of the devastating quake altered our plan. Instead, we used the allotted budget to build a few temporary learning centers in Batase-4, Devidanda and Sindhupalchok. We believe that this work rather than a celebration was a more worthwhile use of the funds given the existing mood of the country.

Finally, thank you all so much once again and expect your continued support and cooperation.
